Ready to Start your Bluewater Adventure?

After 5 years significantly upgrading and sailing Blue Dancer around the Mediterranean, It is time for us to pass her on the next owners.
Built in 1990 Blue Dancer is an example of a Moody 425 is a modern classic.
A Bill Dixon design that evolved from the Moody 422, first introduced in 1988. A safe family cruiser it offers spacious accommodation including a huge master cabin in the aft of the yacht, a good size double berth in the bow and twin passage berths between the saloon and aft cabin which can be closed off to form an additional guest cabin if required. At least 6 foot 3 inches of headroom throughout most of the yacht.
Blue Dancer has a snug and safe centre cockpit and a clean functional deck layout. The simple, but robust, double-spreader masthead rig was fitted with in-mast furling as standard from new. The standing rigging is 2021, Shoal draft of 1.4m.
Her hull lay-up is tough, durable solid laminate constructed to Lloyds specifications. The deck hull joint is through bolted, and all the internal bulkheads are glassed in place. The rudder is semi balanced partial skeg.
We have undertaken numerous upgrades. Notably a new Volvo Penta D2-50 in 2021 (With only a couple of hundred hours), replacing the Standing Rigging in 2022 and a full Raymarine Electronics package in 2023!
Blue Dancer is available for inspection by arrangement in Lefkas, Greece in September/October 2025.
A recent Out of Water Survey is available to interested buyers.

The Design
The Capsize Ratio – The moody scores 1.9. Anything 2 or below is considered self-righting and therefore offshore capable.
Sail Area Displacement Ratio – essentially power to weight ratio. The Moody 425 scores
16. 4, which places her in the fast cruiser range.
Displacement Length ratio – 236 which puts her in the moderately heavy displacement range.
Originally conceptualised by Bill Dixon and crafted by Marine Projects in Plymouth, with fitting performed by WH Moody at Swanick, this vessel was meticulously designed as a bluewater yacht, primed for long-distance passage-making. It’s standard configuration features a round bilge, elegantly raked stem, and a molded retroussé stern, embodying classic design principles optimised for performance and comfort.
Constructed from single skin FRP (Fibre-reinforced plastic) laminate, the vessel seamlessly integrates chopped strand mat and woven rovings, all thoroughly hand-laid in the traditional manner using polyester resin. The deck and superstructure, reinforced with end grain balsa wood, enhance structural integrity while ensuring lightweight efficiency.
Inspection
The boat is currently in Lefkas and can be inspected in D Marin Marina. To arrange an inspection please contact us on craigyhall@gmail.com (Flights to Lefkas are frequent from the UK and Europe up until end of October).
